Foul ball??

2016/7/15 16:57:54

Question
I hit a ball that went straight up in the air, landed 5 feet right of the 1st base line and rolled back to the edge of the 1st base line. The catcher picked up the ball and tagged me out. How far does the ball have to go before it is considered a foul?

Answer
Hi Chris,
if the ball landed in foul territory BEFORE 1st base and then rolled into fair territory BEFORE 1st base and then was touched by the catcher in fair territory, it is a fair ball.

Of course if it landed in dead ball territory it would be foul.
