Question
I will try to explain my question the best i can cause im not very good in english. There was a runner on the first base. The guy at the bat it the ball in the field and the runner on first base run to the second base. But the center fielder catch the ball so the runner have to return to the first base right? But when the center fielder throw the ball to the first base the runner push the first basement so he wasn't able to catch the ball and the ball go in the other team (runner team) dog out. So they call a wild pitch from the field so they send the runner from first to third base cause the ball came from the field. Is it right? Does the runner is allowed to push the first base guy? And if yes, is it correct to send the runner to third base?Thank you
Answer
If F3 was blocking the base and did not yet have possession of the ball it is obstruction and the runner has a right to the base. As far as the push it's something I would have to see but if R1 was simply moving to the base and had to get through F3, I probably wouldn't have much, contact happens in softball.
The award for the ball going out of play is bases from the last base touched at the time of the throw. #rd is the correct award in ASA.
