Question
Runners on 1st and 2nd no outs co Ed there is no infield fly rule.Batter hits a line drive to the short stop the SS lets ball hit in there glove then intentionally drops ball tags runner on 2nd steps on 2nd base and throws to 1st for triple play what is the correct call? Triple play or call batter out runners stay on 1st and 2nd or What?

Answer
Hi clay,

In ASA you must actually catch and the intentionally drop the ball.  Other orgs are not as strict.

If we call an ID, the ball is dead, b-r out and runners return.

Obviously I would have to see the play to know the correct call.
