Question
can a ground ball that the ump initially rules safe, can it be overturned or appealled??? the ump called our guy safe on a ground ball hit to the shortstop that our guy seemed to beat out at first base(it was a bang bang play) the other team(the whole team) starts surrounding the ump demanding that the call be changed... they eventually get the call changed. It gets more interesting because the commisioner of our league plays on the team demanding that the call get changed (I dont know if theres some sort of conflict of interest there) so basically can that call at first base on a ground ball be overturned after initially being ruled safe??

Answer
Hi eddie,

sure an umpire can reverse their call, in a case like this if an umpire was blocked out for example, they might confer w/ their partner and it is based on new info.

By themself to call safe and then out after a "discussion" doesn't look too good for the umpire's credibility but they can do it.
