Question
6u girls softball, but should apply to all. fielder chasing a runner, tags her ponytail flying behind her as she runs. safe / out?

Answer
Hi Ken,

OUT! applies to any level, the ponytail is no different than any other body part

ASA The runner is out...8-7-B. When the ball is live and while the runner is not in contact with a base, the runner is legally touched with the ball in the hand(s) of a fielder.

The same is true on a force out for a fielder w/ possession of the ball, trips and falls and her ponytail makes contact with the base before the runner does....out!
