Question
We are playing 12U this year - we have found with less than two outs and a runner on third - if the batter walks she continues on to second base.  What is the best way to cover this without allowing the runner at third to score.

Answer
At 12U have two choices unless you have some highly skilled players.  You can either give up the base or throw the ball to F3.  If the the runner on third breaks home you can throw her out.  This will stop the runner from advancing to second until the next pitch.

You can try a throw to F6 who has moved in to try and fool the runner on third.  If you actually make a play on the runner going to second, you are going to have a run score unless you have some very smart ball players with some very strong arms.
