Banned Bat

2016/7/15 16:50:48

Question
Hi Mark:

Trying to get a rule clarification with a "banned" bat.  A bat that has been marked with a 2000 or 2004 Certification Stamp but is on the ASA Non-Approved bat list.  If a player walks into the batters box with such a bat...what is the correct outcome/punishment if caught.  Thank you in advance for your response.

Answer
Hi Justin,

A bat w/ a cert mark that is on the non-approved list is non-approved or banned if you will, the same as if it had no cert mark.  Step into the box you are out and ejected for the tournament.

Many local league rules deviate from the ejection and just take an out but that's local business not an ASA rule.
