Fielder Stepped on Orange side of 1st Base

2016/7/15 16:50:30

Question
Tonight I hit a grounder to first where the first baseman stepped on the orange safety side of first base, not the in play white side.  As a result, the umpire ruled me safe at first.  How should this be scored?

Answer
Hi Mookie,

Thank you for your question.  F3, the first baseman, committed an error.  If F3 wouldn't have committed the error by stepping on the orange bag, you would have been put out.   So you are out, don't get credited for a hit, but get charged an at bat.
