Answer
Hi Patrick from Iowa,
Thank you for your question. Of course, I would love to have seen your play with my own two eyes, but you gave a pretty good description of it. The defensive coach was right to call for interference, and the umpire was right to reverse his/her safe call and call out the runner. It doesn't matter at all that the runner never slowed down and was at full speed when she jumped over the ball. Nothing but her own talent prevented her from coming to a complete stop to the left of the shortstop, going behind the shortstop, etc. It's evident that it was the sudden and instantaneous appearance of the runner, running at full speed into the field of vision of the shortstop just as she was about to field the batted ball, that caused her to bobble it.
After the call reversal, unless it was the third out, the runner who was on 1B should have been placed on 2B. The batter/runner should have been placed on 1B.
