batting donuts-- legal??

Question
Are batting donuts legal for the on-deck batter in ASA in 2011?

Answer
Hi Kevin,
Thank you for your question.  No, batting donuts are not legal for the on-deck batter in ASA in 2011.  I found my information on ASA's web site, which has a list of legal warm-up bat attachments.  Currently, they are the Pow'R Wrap and the SwingSock.

For good reason, donuts fell into disfavor and were subsequently banned.  When used on slender-barreled bats, and/or when the rubber coating wore off the inside portion of the donut, the donut could fly off the barrel of the bat during a practice swing.
