Question
If first base is occupied one or no outs and the runner steals on the same pitch of a dropped third strike, can the batter run to first or is it considered first to be occupied

Answer
Hi shawn,

by rule a base is occupied until the runner is put out or they safely advance to the next base.  So the answer is no this is not a D3k situation because 1st base is occupied until that runner safely achieves 2nd, just being off the base and/or attempting to advance to the next base doesn't count.
