Sliding

Question
Is there a rule that says you have to slide a base.. Especially home.. And whether there is a play or not.

Answer
Hi Daniel,

No national org has a "must slide" rule, however I understand some local leagues have unnecessary and misguided "must slide" rules of various scenarios varying from every base that has a play to home plate only.

If your local league has one, ask your manager or the LD to see the printed version which should have been handed out to every team prior to the season.

In strict ASA tournie play while a runner has other responsibilities to avoid collisions, etc, this should never come up.
