ASA Girls 14U warming up

2016/7/15 16:47:34

Question
I was at a tournament two weeks ago where the umpires would not allow us to throw the ball around in either the infield or the outfield after the 1st inning.  The pitcher was allowed three warm up pitches and that was it.

I could understand this if this was included in the tournament rules, but one of the umpires insisted that there is an ASA rule that say this.  I have looked and looked, but I have not found it in the rule book.  Is there such a rule, and if so where would I find it.

Thanks for all your help.  I have learned a lot from all the posts.

Answer
Hi Douglas,

If this is FP the pitcher is allowed not more than 1 minute nor more than 5 warm-up pitches ASA 6-9.  If SP 1 minute and not more than 3 ASA 6-8.

The TD in tournie play usually sets the ground rules for infield and outfield and it's very possible they were following the TD's directions.  There can be a # of reasons for that.
