Question
A team uses the Flex/dp players.  The dp hits for the flex player..  Can that flex player, for his dp, courtesy run every time the dp gets on base? Can she run everytime they get on base or can this happen just once as a runner?  Thank-you.

Answer
No.  The Flex player is a "phantom" player that can take over the defensive position of any player in the lineup, but you must have someone on the bench run as a courtesy runner.

If you use any sub or the flex running for the DP, the DP has left the game and has one re-entry (the flex is NOT considered a courtesy runner, they are considered a substitute runner).

Imagine that your flex ran for the DP. That means your DP must leave the game and has one re-entry. When it is the DP's spot to bat again, the DP can reenter into the game and bat again. But if you put the flex back in for the DP, that PLAYER (DP)is done for the rest of the game.  You could put a sub in for the original DP at that point and go back to 10 players.

Remember that if you use 2 courtesy runners (one for pitcher, one for catcher), they have to be different players from the bench that have not been in the game.
