Question
my daughter plays junior college softball and is gonna play with an 18u softball team this summer. She qualifies with her age but does she qualify to play this summer because she is in college?

Answer
Hi Danny,

Please pardon my delay in answering your question!  I was out of town and forgot to put myself on vacation with allexperts.com.

The answer to your question lies in two separate places: in the 2011 ASA Code and in the 2012 ASA Code Changes with Comments found on www.asasoftball.com.  (In other words, there is no 2012 ASA Code on line yet; one has to piece together the 2011 ASA Code and the 2012 Changes with Comments).  To view them, go to ASA's home page, hover over About ASA, then click on ASA Code.  Your daughter's eligibility information is specifically located in Article 501-D-02-d.

The bottom line is, yes, since your daughter meets ASA's age requirement, she can play ASA 18U, even though she is in college.  However, she can only play 18UA and 18UB.  SHE CANNOT PLAY 18 GOLD!
