Is R1 out or safe? The right fielder and center fielder are in their normal and have no play on ball.
Answer
Hi Chris,
If the batted ball passes an infielder and no other player has an opportunity to make an out and the runner did not intentionally interfere with the ball, the runner is not out, the ball remains live and we play on.
the runner is not out....
ASA 8-8-D. When a runner is hit with a fair, untouched batted ball that has passed an
infielder, excluding the pitcher, and, in the umpire抯 judgment no other fielder
had an opportunity to make an out.
or just in case it was deflected 8-8-F. When a runner is hit by a fair batted ball after it touches, or is touched by, any fielder, including the pitcher, and the runner could not avoid contact with
the ball.
