runners advancing on runner interference

Question
We had bases loaded and a ground ball was hit to the shortstop. The runner on 2 tried to go behind the ss fielding the ball. All of the runners advanced to the next base and the ump called the girl advancing to 3rd out, which was the correct call. All of the other base runners stayed at the base they were advancing to, except he made the runner that scored come back to 3. Were all runners supposed to get the base they advanced to, including the runner that scored?
Answer
Hi Tressa,
When interference is called it is a dead ball, the runner is out and all runners return to the last base touched at the time of the interference. The b-r would be awarded 1st base and all other runners advance only if forced.
So in your q...R2 is out, R1 is returned to 3rd if that is the last base touched at the time, the b-r is awarded 1st and r3 is advanced to 2nd.
So you have bases loaded with whatever # of outs. Sounds like the right call to me.
