Question
QUESTION: hi i have a question on reentry of a pitcher,in a rec town league which uses asa rules,a pitcher on the opposing team started 1st inning, went to ist base for the 2nd,3rd,rentered as a pitcher for the 4th was taken off the field [she hit 4 batters] went to the bench, then she reentered and put back in pitching for the 6th ,7th inning can she reenter 3 times i say no but im not sure about this it was a playoff game any help would be great thx charlie
ANSWER: Hi Charlie,
She didn't re-enter 3 times, she only re-enterrd once. If I read your q correctly she played a # of defensive positions, left the game in the 4th inning and the "re-entered" the game in the 6th inning.
Any player can be taken out of the game and then re-enter once. I'm assuming you mean she was put in F1 3 times, that's perfectly legal, no problem

QUESTION: hi mark she started pitching the 1st then another pitcher pitched the 2nd,and 3rd then the starter went back in to pitch the 4th[2nd time on the mound]she hit 4 batters and came out of the game another pitcher pitched the finish of the 4th,and the 5th the pitcher in question then took the mound a 3rd time in the 6th and 7th ??
Answer
Hi Chuck,
You used the word "re-entry" which only applies to leaving the game and then coming back into the game.
As far as pitching is concerned she can come and go from that position as many times as the coach wants to move her. There is no rule about the # of times someone can play that position in a game.
