NFHS Charged Defensive Conference

2016/7/15 16:40:48

Question
What is the current interpretation of a charged defensive conference.  Example:  I went to the mound to talk to my pitcher.  She continued pitching.  In the same inning, I went back to the mound.  I removed the pitcher.  A new pitcher pitched.  In the same inning, I went back to the mound.  Am I required to remove that pitcher, also?

Answer
You get three defensive conferences per game.  On the fourth you must remove your pitcher and that player may not return to pitch later in the game.

If you remove a pitcher prior to the fourth conference, that player may return to pitch.

You are not charged a conference if you change pitchers.

When you change pitchers the number of defensive conferences does not reset.

You can use all of your conferences in the same inning if you wish.

You are not required to remove the second pitcher.
