Resumed Game Lineups

Question
Hello Mark,
Not much rain this year and a lot of bad-hop singles that suddenly become triples, but we had one game (ASA coed slow pitch) that was called in the top of the 3rd (5 innings needed to be official in our league) because of a sudden downpour that rendered the infield unfit to play because of puddles. (The sun came out by the time we reached the parking lot.)
According to league rules, we will resume this game next week at the point at which the game was called: none out; runner on 2nd; 2-0 count on the batter.
Are we required to keep the same players in the same batting order?
Or if some of the players will not be at this resumed game, can we insert substitutes? For example, one of our bench players had not yet played in the game. Can he enter (pinch hit) for the player who was at bat with a 2-0 count, as the player originally at bat will not be at the resumed game?
Thanks!
KAB
Answer
Hi Ken,
It seems you are playing w/ ASA rules, when you have a game that is resumed at a later time you do start exactly where the game was stopped, down to the count. Yes you must use the BO and players you used at the "1st" game, however you can legally substitute for any position. The substitute need not have been at the "1st" game, only on your roster.
Sure if B3 cannot make it (or even if they can) you sub for them and the sub takes on the count.
Mark
