batting out of order

1st inning / 2 outs /batting position #9 is to come up at bat however, batter #12 comes us to the plate and gets the 3rd out.  Who is to come up to the plate to start the batting order the next inning?

Assuming the opposing team said nothing before they left the field to bat, the batter that bats after #12 in the first to bat next inning.  If the opposing team brings it to the attention of the umpire before all of their infielders have left the field, #10 leads off the next inning.
