MY 7 tear old shows great skills and love for the game already. In our area, I am seeing a need for pitchers in the higher leagues. What age is recommended to start her out with lessons to pitch. What are the most desired qualities that college teams look for in a player? We want to start grooming her, but dont know where to start.         please advise

She's at a prefect age right now to learn the mechanics of pitching.  Get the mechanics down now because to become a very good pitcher later a girl must throw hard while executing the mechanics properly. Be careful that you don't over do the pitching practices at her age. Keep the pitching sessions short then slowly increase them as she gets older and builds endurance and strength.


For colleges -- talent and top grades are high on the list. Also characteristics such as work ethic, sportsmanship, and the ability to play well under pressure are important. In other words someone well rounded.
