pitching substitutions
Question
In a U-12 girls softball game in Ohio (Ohio high school girls softball rules) a coach took out his starting pitcher and in the last inning, put her back in to pitch. Is this allowed? Under the ASA rules this is considered an illegal substitution. Do you know of any other information to make sure coaches understand what the rules say regarding this issue?
Thanks
Answer
Hi Will,
Sorry for the delay, I'm not getting my questions after the last upgrade, I have to check on them manually (I guess).
I don't know Ohio rules, under ASA if the coach took out his starting pitcher and re-entered her once in the same batting postion ...no problem. This is not considered an illegal substitution.
