ASA rule on home runs

This was a ball caught and carried over the homerun fence.  It was one of those lower mesh fences that the leftfielder caught the ball then fell over the fence.  Is this an out or a homerun ? ...I should have clarified that.

Hi Mike,

The fielder's feet must be within the field of play, touching the out-of-play line or in the air after leaving live ball territory in order to have a valid catch.

So if I understand you question correctly they caught the ball in the field of play and their momentum carried them over the fence (correct?)  If so we have a valid catch.

Hi Mike,

It's a valid catch and an out.  Even if he knocked down the fence and was standing on it when he caucht the ball, it would still be a valid catch.

It would not be a valid catch if jumped over the fence into dead ball territory and then made the catch.  It would be a home run.
