Pitched Ball out of play
Question
R1 on 2B & R2 on 1B ... Pitcher pitches a ball and it directly strikes the front angled edge of home plate ... ball shots straight up and over the backstop ... out of play ... what is the correct call?
i plated R1 and moved R2 to 3B and counted 1-0 on the B/R ... basing that call on 8.5.G ... did i get it correct?
needless to say it plated the tying run ... and left the winning run on third ...
Answer
Hi Chris,
It's actually 8-5-c when a pitched ball...goes out of live ball territory. effect all runners are awarded 1 base and the the batter is awarded 1st base only if it is ball 4.
So R1 is awarded 3rd and R2 is awarded 2nd and 1-0 on the batter.
