Tossing a glove at a ball.
Question
This question pertains to mens slow pitch.
If a fielder throws his glove at a batted ball and does not thouch the ball, what should be the proper call, if any, by the umpire?
Answer
Hi Charles,
There is no penalty if the glove does not touch the ball.
Umpires can handle it differently. Some would issue a warning that if it hits the ball this would be the penalty. I don't usually do much, it they do it again and it touches the ball I just apply the proper rule.
