Short on players
Question
We have played a lot of tournments and none of us have ever seen this rule in mens slowpitch softball.
Had a early game and had 2 players not show up. In thier rules, which they said they were using ASA rules, it stated that if you did not have 10 guys on the field, the open spots were a out. I recieved the rules at game time so not much to do about it. Is this real or not?
Answer
Hi Matt,
It's not an ASA rule but if this was not an ASA championship or qualifying tournament they can do what they want with the rules.
Under ASA you can start a slowpitch game w/ 9 and take an out in the 10th position. You cannot start a game w/8.
