dropped line drive

I read your answer on intentionally dropped balls to enable possible double or triple play opportunities.  My question is, if your sharp enough infielder to close your glove showing only the back of the glove to the ball allowing the ball to hit the glove never in it, and falling to the ground and then being able to pick it up and turn a double play with a runner on 1st base and less than 2 outs lets say on a semi-line drive to the shortstop. Is it a legal move.  I have done it and got away with it.  The opposing coach was very upset.

It is illegal.

When an infielder intentionally drops a fair fly ball, including a line drive or a bunt, which can be caught with ordinary effort with first; first and second; first and third; or first, second and third bases occupied with fewer than two outs.

A dead ball is called and the BATTER-RUNNER IS OUT. The other runners are returned to the base they were on.
