fast pitch catchers mitt

My daughter is ten yrs old and is catching in a ten and under league.  I want to purchase her a youth catchers mitt and have found many on line with varying circ. 29.5 - 32 in. do you suggest the smaller circ. for greater control of the glove or would it be of any significance.  Thank you for your time Mike

Hello Mike,

I think the larger circ. glove would probably aid her in framing pitches.  Since your using an 11 inch ball the smaller circ. glove would probably be ok as well.  I would probably take your daughter to a larger sports store and have her try them on.  You'll want to insure that the wrist opening and finger areas are proper size and fit for her.  Some of the better gloves come with bruise guard pads in the palm area and this is definitely a must have.  Also make sure you purchase a mitt with an oiled leather so that break in time isn't as long.  In short, give your daughter all this information and let her have input in what mitt you choose.  You'll be glad you did in the long run.
