Bat hitting live ball....

Question
Batter bunts ball into fair territory and while dropping the bat, it makes contact with the live ball. Does it matter where the ball goes after making contact with the dropped bat in fair territory....?

I read an answer from "Jesse" on this site from 7/5/07 on bunting:
This was his answer: "If the ball was hit by the bat and then rolled foul then it would be called a foul ball. However, if the bat hit the ball and the ball stayed in fair territory, then it is a live ball."

I would think it would be a dead ball whether it went fair or foul.

In ASA play this falls under "hitting the ball a second time"

If you mean "the bat" by "it" no it doesn't matter...If the bat is out of the batter's hands, dropped or thrown and THE BAT hits the ball in fair territory we have a dead ball and the batter is out. All runner's return to the last base touched at the time of the dead ball.

This would be incorrect in ASA play, anytime the bat dropped or thrown hits the ball in fair territory, the ball is dead and the batter is out.  The key is the bat hits the ball.

If THE BALL rolls against the bat on the ground in fair territory we have a fair or foul ball depending on where the ball is first touched or settles.

If the ball rolls against the bat on the ground in foul territory it is a foul ball.
