ASA slowpitch u12 ruling

Question
Situation, bases loaded batter bats the ball which lands on home plate and the ball settles there on home plate.  Catcher picks up the ball and and tags the batter.  Umpire calls the batter out and the runner at 3rd base out also.

Was the ball fair to begin with and if it was fair why
would both players be out?

Hi Jon,

The plate like any other base is in fair territory, so this would be a fair ball.

This is probably what happened...when the batter became a b-r, R1 at 3rd is now forced at home.  The catcher gained control of the ball while touching the plate, R1 is out on the force and then the catcher tagged the b-r for the 2nd out.

IF the catcher tagged the b-r 1st, it removes the force and the R1 would not be forced at home and there would only be 1 out.
