My Coach
Question
This question doesn't really have to deal with softball, but with my softball coach. I understand you are a softball coach, so I hope you can help. I am a sophmore in high school and I am having a real problem with my coach. My freshman year playing softball I did really well. It seemed like my coach liked me a lot and would talk to me a lot. But ever since I wrote her a note telling her how awesome she is and what a great example she is to me, she has been treating me differently. It doesn't seem like she has confidence in me anymore. She never talks to me and acts as if I am helpless. It's like she's scared I like her too much. So now I freak out when I see, because I don't know what she is thinking. She dominates me; I can't play well when she is there. What can I do to change this? How can I open my self up to her? I can't feel comfortable until everything is okay!

Answer
Kenzie,
Don't worry about what the coach is thinking of you, just work as hard as you can and do exactly what she asks. For some becoming more than a coach bothers some coaches, try to keep your relationship as player and coach, you don't have to be close friends. Things will get better.
Good luck,
Coach Suthe.
