Lodge ball
Question
When a live ball becomes lodged in a defensive players equipment, the ball is dead & all runners are awarded one base
Answer
Nope, no dead ball here. The only time I can see this becoming an issue is with the catcher. If I am her coach, she better get control of the ball pretty quick!
The only time you have a dead ball involving defensive equipment is when the ball hits loose equipment on the field of the team on defense, usually a catchers mask removed to make a play, or could be a fielders mask thrown to the side. The base award is two bases from the runners position at the time of the dead ball.
