Glove Rules

I was playing third base in a church softball game with my old baseball first base glove (this glove (Wilson A2800) is easier to catch a softball with then my other baseball glove).  I know there are rules regarding the sizes of gloves for different positions, but I was called out with having an illegal glove after making a double play.  I was forced to switch to my 12" baseball glove which in comparison is the same size as my first base glove.  The umpire also took away both outs and we had to play a 5 out inning.  Also, the third baseman on the other team had a 14" glove, visually much larger than mine.  It could be that baseball gloves in general are illegal in softball, but was my glove really illegal for being oversized if it is 2" smaller then most of the other gloves on the field?

Church softball and being called out for an illegal glove?  that's a new one on me.

In ASA Gloves cannot exceed certain dimensions, they can certainly be under them.  It would take a tape measure and a math teacher to do all the dimensions mentioned in the book. Just because your glove is a "baseball" glove doesn't make it automatically illegal. You can wear a glove or mitt at any position.

I've never had an illegal glove called in any of the games I've been a part of.
