Question
Question #1 a bunted ball lands on top of home plate, is it a fair or fould ball
Question 2 A temporary fence is put up which if the balls goes uder this fence is is a ground rule double, but from the end of the temporary fence which stops on the foul line, there is approximately a 30 foot open area between the end of the temporary fence and permanent fence. My question is that if a player touches the ball i fair territory and the ball rolls out of the playing area (not under the fence) is is still a ground rule double. I argued that the batter should be awarded third base due to the fact the player knocked the ball out of play. Thanks Glenn Ikalina
Answer
Hi Glenn,
fair ball, the plate like any other base is in fair territory
still a grd (or 2 bases from the time of the pitch however you want to phrase it)unless it was intentional, then it is 2 bases from the last base touched at the time of the violation.
