Lights Shut off during a play
Question
I play in an over 50 slow pitch softball league in Northern New Jersey and we follow the ASA rules. I have never seen this situation before in my life. On the last play of the game, their batter hit a ball which went past our left fielder and the batter was either approaching or rounding second base and the lights went out. This batter represented the winning run and there were 2 runners in front of him rounding the bases. My question is this: Is the entire at-bat considered dead, since the play was never completed? If so, do we play the game with the batter at the plate again and the runners back to their original bases? Could the batter be awarded with a ground rule double? Or do we revert back to the last completed inning of play? If we do revert back to the last completed inning of play, is that the final score or do we complete the 7th inning? Both teams agree that the batter was rounding second base at the time of the blackout. Both teams do not agree to where the ball subsequently landed. The team in the field claims to be in the process of returning the ball to the cutoff man and the batting team claims the ball rolled to the fence. Since this is the first game of the best 2 of 3 championship, it makes a very big difference as to what the decision is? I would appreciate your answer if you have ever run into this situation with any ASA game.
Thank you for your assistance.
Sincerely,

Answer
Hi Frank,
Congrats!!! you've asked ma a question I can't answer. I would be on the phone to my state and maybe my regional uic for an answer hopefully everyone could live with (although I doubt that!)
If I had to give an opinion or be killed, based on the facts I see in your question B1 on 3rd, tie game.
