runner hit by batted ball.

Does the decision to make an out or safe call in relation to a runner being hit by a batted ball have any bearing on an outfielder playing shallow in the grass.
I know the rule as to infielders being deeper than the runner and whether or not they could make a play.
Here was the situation.....A runner on 2nd base was hit two steps off second base on a ball hit sharply on the ground up the middle on the shortstop side of second base....Both SS and 2nd basemen were playing fairly shallow and had no play....However the center fielder was playing a bit shallow. Not sure if the outfielder could have been able to throw out the runner going to third(50/50)..Are the outfielders considered in making an out call on this play because they may have had a chance to make a play?(or are just infielders considered in a runner being hit by a batted ball?)

the rule is a runner would be out if they are struck with a fair untouched batted ball while not in contact with the base if the ball had already passed an infielder and another "fielder" had an opportunity to make an out. 8-7-k

Any defensive player can be involved, we see this occasionally in SP where they play a 5 man, but it's not just the opportunity to make a "play" but in the umpires judgment if the fielder had an opportunity to make an "out."

If in the umpire's judgment there is no opportunity to make an out, the ball remains alive and we play on.  If interference is called, dead ball, out, runners return to the last base touched at the time of the interference.
