slap hitting

Question
My daughter is a slapper, and has been called out sporadically for stepping out(of the batters box).  I have heard the rule is one foot in, and depending on the ump. and his interpretation, we have had controversy.  This scenario usually occurs when power slappping.  Please advise.

Answer
Hi Lori,

let's just do some basics so you have a better idea on how this is called.

The bb extends 4' in front of a line drawn through the middle of the plate (and of course 3' back) and 3' wide beginning 6" from the side of the plate.  Any part of the foot touching any part of the line is considered in the box.  A foot can also be touching the line and the other foot is in the air and this is considered in in the box.

A foot cannot be on the ground completely outside the line when contact is made with the ball.

If the lines are gone the benefit of the doubt goes to the batter.
