USSSA vs. ASA rules

I was informed last night that our league (12U girls fastpitch) is switching from USSSA affiliation to ASA.  Our league president did not have any ASA rulebooks to handout. I'm vaguely familiar with some of the differences - what I'm not sure about is batting.  In USSSA, we could bat 11 girls and have free subs in/out of the field without reporting the changes.  Do you know if ASA is different?  I've heard that you only bat 10 (using Additional Hitter), and must report player substitutions. Is this correct?  Also, can you briefly describe re-entry rules in ASA?  Thanks.

Hi Michael,

In ASA play you can bat 9 but play 10 using a DP/Flex.  The DP bats for the Flex, the Flex listed 10th play defense.  Plus there's a lot more to this rule.  You don't have to use the DP/Flex in that case you bat 9 and play defense with those 9.

Substitutions must be reported to the umpire.

Starters and their subs may re-enter the game once, of course in the same batting position.  Ie 1 starts @B1, 2subs for 1, 1 re-enters for 2, 2 re-enters, 1 now out of the game.
