HELP!! I need help on softball for freshman year

Well i never really played softball. I have played baseball with some friends but never on a real team. I have always wanted to play on a team but i got way to nervous to try out. So for my freshman year in high school i want to make the softball team. I want to know what equipment i need to bring to practice, the proper clothing for practice and tryouts, do i need to bring the equipment to tryouts, a few pointers that would definitely get me on the team. I have been practicing this summer with my cousin's boyfriend and he helped me a lot with catching ground balls, fly balls, and pitching. I have started this summer because i really want to make the team. So please reply back.! Thank you a lot.

I normally don't do coaching questions.  Keep working on defense, but find someone that can get you hitting a 50 mph pitch.  If you are just starting don't worry about learning to pitch, learn to hit.  If you can hit, you will be in the line-up.
