fastpitch lineup rules
Question
When submitting a lineup for a kansas highschool softball game, if a player is entered with the incorrect number (example players number is 1 and entered as 2), and a player with the number 2 goes into run as a substitute reported correctly, is there an out? What is the official lineup, the players name or number? ASA rules state if a players number is incorrect, correct it and play on.
Answer
Bruce,
For the line up in high school you go by the person. The number is used to identify the person. Like ASA if there is a mistake on the line-up as far as the number goes, this is a correctable error without penalty. You just have to make sure there is no actual change in the line-up based on the person.
