out of the baseline
Question
if a player hits a homerun over the fence and is running the bases can he be called out for being out of the baseline if after he touched first he ran towards the pitchers mound then proceeded to run the rest of the bases in correct order.
Answer
Hi Vincent,
there is no "base path" unless a defensive player is trying to tag a runner. A "baseline" is an imaginary line directly between the bases and nothing to do with a runner running the bases.
I see no violation of anything here unless the b-r was tormenting the pitcher then I could eject them for UC but the run would still count.
