interference/asa slow pitch

Question
my team had 1st and third no outs, ground ball to 2nd r1 did cause interference on the 2nd baseman, runner on 3rd did not score,is the runner on 3rd also out? are all the penalties the same for interference?

Answer
In this case, no runners advance, R1 is out and the batter is awarded first base.

If the umpire judges the interference an attempt to break up a double play, in this case, most likely the batter going to first, the umpire could call him out as well.  The runner on third is not out  but must remain on third.

Interference is always an out.  It can be two outs if the umpire judges the interference prevented the catch of a routine fly ball or the interference is an attempt to prevent a double play.

The only time the lead runner would be out if the interference is called on a player that is not on the bases or already out or if the interference is by a coach.
