Define Crow hop & amount of time to deliver
Question
So I have 2 NFHS rule interpertation's I'd like (and I can't get to the actual rule book)
1) Please define a "crow hop" is it when at anytime during the delivery of a pitch both feet are off the ground?
2) After a strike or ball is called & the catcher returns the ball to the pitcher - does NFHS define the amount of time the pitcher has to deliver the next pitch. (I thought it was 20 sec.)
Answer
A crow hop is a replant of the pivot foot off the pitchers plate prior to the pitch. I looks like a short step with the pivot foot prior to the pitch. The only step forward is with the stride foot.
Both feet in the air prior to he pitch is a leap.
- Rule 6-2-3 clarifies that once the ball is returned to the pitcher to prepare for the next pitch, she has 20 seconds to
release the pitch.
- Rule 7-3-1 clarifies that the batter has 10 seconds to take her position in the batter's box after the ball is returned
to the pitcher. The wording of the penalty for this rule was also changed to state that the pitcher bringing her hands
together indicates a commitment to deliver the pitch.
