Is there a "catchers box"  

What happened was my daughter was setting up for an outside pitch so she moved over to the far right. ( pretty much right behind the left side of the batters box ) The umpire made her move over towards the center and told her she had to be within the plate area.  Is that correct?

Thank you for your question.  Yes, there certainly is a catcher's box!  It often doesn't get chalked, though, so many people aren't even aware that there should be one.  In both ASA and high school, the catcher's box is a giant rectangle 8'-5" wide (extending from the left edge of the left batter's box to the right edge of the right batter's box) X 10' deep (extending from the rear/back edge of the batter's boxes).

I'm reading between the lines here, but I'm guessing the umpire made your daughter move to improve his view of pitches.  However, he had no business doing so.  The catcher is allowed to set up anywhere in the catcher's box, as long as both feet are on or within the box's lines, whether chalked or imaginary.
