Pitching Styles

My 16 year old daughter has been going to the same pitching coach for 4 yrs. He is an older man who is very "old school" and teaches the closed style. She recently went to a different pitching coach who is fresh out of college and is the local University pitching coach. She teaches the open style. Many people have told us that she needs to learn that style of pitching. Which is better, and which do colleges prefer?

I think you will see more open style pitchers in college.
