legal bat called illegal
Question
My question regards a legal bat that was mistaken for an illegal bat. It might help if I set the situation up. Multiple players on our team use the Worth Mutant 98 slowpitch softball bat. This is an ASA league and the bat is perfectly legal. The other team said it was the Worth Mutant 120 because they saw the 1.20 BPF on the bat The umpire did not call anyone out or forfeit the game, he just said we were not allowed to use the bat any more. Since the bat is actually a legal bat, can we appeal the ruling 9and the game) and go back and pick the game up from the point that the legal bat was taken out of play?
Thank you
Answer
Hi Jim,
Unless you protested at the time, the answer is no, sorry but that's just the way it is. If you did, you should be good to go.
Be proactive next time, any bat w/ an ASA logo is legal UNLESS it's on the non-approved list. Just go to the ASA website, print it out and put it in your bat bag. Next time...here you go "blue" it's not here so it's legal or print out the approved bat list which is much longer.
