asa girls fastpitch softball...a ruling interpretation

Question
Situation: runner on first. Batter hits home run. Batter touches orange base when rounding the bases. There is an appeal. First question...is the batter out because she didn't touch the white base??
Second question: If the batter is out what happens to the runner?

Answer
Hi Mike,

In ASA this is perfectly ok, there is no legal appeal of this.

8-2-m 6. On balls hit to the outfield with no play on the batter-runner advancing
to first base, the batter-runner may touch the white or colored portion.

Players however should learn in situations like this, just in case of an inexperienced umpire "never give an umpire an opportunity to call an out"

2nd however, if an out was called the "P" word should be brought out.

Also in ASA after the "initial play"  the double base becomes 1 big base for all practical purposes.
