number of players needed to play
Question
In asa how many players do you need to finish a game?
For example, in our league play we say we must have 8 to start but if someone get hurt now they have 7 and in theory can still play.
Under the official rules of ASA slowpitch what is the rule?
Answer
Hi pete,
in ASA play in SP you can start with 9, 10 or 11. If you start with 9, you must take an out in the 10th spot. If you lose a player for any reason and go to 8, the game is over and a forfeit. You must bat at least 9 in SP.
If you start w/ 10 or 11 and lose a player for any reason except ejection and cannot substitute for them you simply take an out in that bp. If ejected and no substitute, the game is over and a forfeit.
If you start w/ 11 you cannot lose 2 and still play with 9, you can only play w/1 less.
Also in ASA the defense can walk batters if they wish to get to that vacant bp for the out.
