Question
hey, im from canada, i am five one and 100 pounds, i was previously on the wrestling team, but i broke my ankle, coach says that because of my size i should not join the rugby team, even though i came in second at ofsaa. my ankle is all healed up now, and i dont know if coach is right about my size being a burden or whatever, any thoughts or words of wisdom about this???

Answer
Hi Chrissie

I am not sure of your age so it is hard for me to say. It is up to you. If you feel you can play then go for it but do so with full understanding of the game and the consequences. You can get seriously hurt playing rugby even in the open field. I  have seen fit grown men get broken legs, arms and sadly necks because of accidents on the field.

It might not hurt to look for another team that might play a smaller weight class or play soccer for a couple of seasons while you grow.

Either way make sure you are having fun and be safe, the point is to be active and make new friends, no matter what sport you play.
